Recently appointed Second/E-flat Clarinet of Columbus Symphony, Dr. Mark Kleine has performed with various orchestras across the United States, including Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, and Flint Symphony Orchestra. His solo experience includes concerto performances with both the Columbus State University Orchestra and the Arizona State University Chamber Orchestra.
In April 2016, Dr. Kleine received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). He previously earned a Master of Music degree from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia.
Since 2019, Dr. Kleine has taught clarinet at the University of Dayton, where he also performs with the University Woodwind Quintet. Previously, he has been a clarinet instructor at the Greater Columbus School of Music in Georgia and the Chautauqua Institution in New York as a member of the Music School Festival Orchestra.
An active audition participant, Dr. Kleine has been named a finalist in recent auditions with San Francisco Ballet, Indianapolis Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, and Kansas City Symphony.
